The Best of Winter Bridal Bouquets
Every year, the enchantment of snowy, white (and occasionally chilly) winter weddings becomes increasingly popular among couples. Calgary and the surrounding Rocky Mountains offer stunning settings for winter weddings, and we are excited to highlight some of our favorite winter bridal bouquets.
While colder climates may limit the availability of locally grown blooms during the winter season, there is still an abundance of beauty to choose from. Among our winter favorites are hyacinth, tulips, hellebores, allium spray, clematis, privet, and skimmia, just to name a few. Focal Fuchsia
With a fresh blanket of snow and calming evergreen tones present in winter we love adding a pop of colour into our wedding colour palettes to brighten up your blooms. Clematis, ranunculus, and hellebores are among a few of our favourite ways to liven up a cool winter palette.
Wintry White
Ivories and whites stand out as our preferred tones for winter weddings, seamlessly harmonizing with the picturesque landscape of Alberta. With snow-capped mountains within reach, embracing the hues of winter adds a breathtaking touch to your bridal flowers. Among our favourite flowers to use are ivory spray roses, Quicksand roses, astrantia, ranunculus, astilbe and panda anenomes (recommended for indoor settings due to sensitivity to sub-zero temperatures).
Berry Bliss
Berries serve as a captivating means to introduce texture and color into your bridal bouquet. Additionally, we adore incorporating other playful accent elements like silver brunia, skimmia, and eryngium thistle for their distinctive textures and shapes. Combining navy-toned berries and accent florals with ivories, reds, and champagnes is an ideal way to craft a breathtaking winter bouquet.
A Touch of Mauve
The allure of winter in Alberta lies in the stark beauty of bare trees against a backdrop of snow-covered landscapes, providing a pristine canvas for experimenting with unique colors. Incorporating a touch of mauve lends to a wonderfully moody and luxurious feel to any bouquet and opens you up to so many palette options from toffee tones to rich burgundy hues.
Romantic Reds
The timeless winter color palette that holds a special place in our hearts! Red-toned bridal bouquets consistently exude stunning beauty, whether paired with ivory, beige, or other soft tones. The abundance of red hues, including hypericum berries, skimmia, amaranthus, hellebores, flowering pieris, standard and spray roses, underscores why it remains a popular and enchanting choice during the winter season.
Something Blue
A wedding isn't complete without something blue! With so many sunny bluebird days here in Calgary and in the Rocky Mountains, we love incorporating a touch of blue into ivory colour palettes during the winter season. Eryngium thistle, silver brunia, and hyacinth are a few of our favorite options for a hint of blue in your winter bridal bouquet.
