Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding countdown is on and there are only 4 days left to go! I for one will be watching because I can't wait to see the flowers!
As a florist, I can't help but wonder what type of bridal bouquet Ms. Markle will carry down the aisle. Will she keep with tradition and carry a small wired bouquet or will it be a larger hand tied bouquet? What flowers will she carry? The more traditional lily of the valley, roses, orchids or something a little different? Will she stick to a traditional colour palette of green and white or will she make a statement with colourful blooms?
My Bouquet Predictions
Meghan and Harry have their own unique love story and nothing about their relationship (at least as the public knows it) is "traditional". Because of this I think she will break with tradition in some aspects of her wedding flowers but keep it in others. Meghan has a classic and timeless style and her flower selection will reflect that sensibility. I think she will keep with a classic palette of white blossoms and greenery and that she will opt for a small hand tied bouquet, rather than a wired bouquet. It will be small in size to not overpower her or her dress (I'm guessing the dress will be a slender, column silhouette or sheath, possibly with a small detachable train and a low backline). I think she will forgo the more traditional blooms of orchids, roses and lily of the valley which have all been popular floral elements for royal brides. I think she will carry a petite bouquet of sweet peas, hellebores, ranunculus, a soft green foliage, myrtle (to keep with royal tradition), spirea and Queen Anne's Lace. The perfect thing about my floral prediction is that these blooms are fit for royalty or any bride who wants to feel like a princess on her wedding day.
Read more about why I think Ms. Markle will choose these particular flowers over on the blog by Tara Whittaker Photography. Also be sure to stop by Tara's blog each day this week to see more royal wedding inspiration. See her royal dress inspiration here.
Besides Meghan's bouquet I expect we will see green and white floral treatments everywhere; from lining the sidewalk outside of St. George's Chapel, to arching around the chapel entrance ,to lining the long aisle inside the chapel. I forsee flowers every where and I can't wait to see what British floral designer Phillippa Craddock comes up with for the royal wedding!
