Spring Wedding Floral Inspiration with Pussy Willow

I'm kicking off the start of May and the official start of wedding season with this beautiful spring floral inspired creative shoot at The Nash located in the beautiful community of Inglewood in Calgary, Alberta.

Winters can be long and cold in Calgary and this past February was an extremely harsh one with lots of snow and extremely frigid temperatures (below -30 celsius). Our team did have lots of amazing winter weddings (which I love) but there is just something about spring branches and blooms that makes my heart sing! Green grass and warmer temperatures are on their way!

This spring wedding shoot was inspired by pussy willow. I used it en masse alongside blooms like spirea and fragrant sweet peas to create a stunning suspended floral installation with a complementing floral runner centerpiece! The blooms included in the floral design were Romantic Antique garden roses, Amnesia roses, Sweet Escimo roses, spirea, apricot ranunculus, lavender sweet peas, lavender tulips and black berry scoop scabiosa. Foraged pussy willow branches tied the dramatic ceiling install together with the floral runner! Christy and Alexis, Calgary wedding planners with Beyond the Proposal, designed the breathtaking tablescape and sourced rentals from Modern Luxe.

We also wanted to create a focal area which, in a real wedding, could be used for bridal portraits or even as a photo booth prop. We positioned the white Jennifer chair from Modern Luxe  in an area of the restaurant with gorgeous natural lighting and built a wall of pussy willows around it!
