Wedding Ceremony Floral Inspiration
Designing your ceremony is one of the most fun parts about planning your wedding. There are so many ways to make your ceremony memorable and beautiful and we wanted to share with you a few of our favourite ceremony floral installations. We hope this inspires you!
Altar Decor
As the focal point of your wedding ceremony, your altar is one of the most important aspects of your ceremony design. It is important to consider how you want to highlight this space.
Keep in mind your venue, and surroundings, then design around that. Do you have a stunning mountain backdrop that you don't want to cover up? Do you want to frame an aspect of the room you're in? How do you want the focal point to look?
Grounded Arch
For gorgeous mountain views, we love using grounded arches as they not only enhance the stunning vistas behind you but also add beautiful pops of colour without distracting from your ceremony. For some more grounded arch inspo, check out our grounded arch blog post!
Full Arch
Full arches are perfect for churches, indoor and outdoor weddings, and are an amazing choice for couples who want flower heavy designs. These designs are a perfect way to frame you and your partner during the ceremony. If you'd like to see more ideas for your arch designs, our 3 Curved Floral Arch Ideas blog post might inspire you.
Partial Arch/Arbour
Partial arches are a great choice if you want florals to be incorporated into your altar but want something less full. We love the versatility of partially flowered arches and arbors. Feel free to be creative with how you design your arch or arbor so that it represents your style as a couple.
Circle Arch
Circles symbolize eternal love and commitment. We love circular arches because of this symbolism, and because they frame the couple, and view so nicely. These arches can be fully covered in flowers or partially covered, either way, we think they're stunning.
Gazebo Florals
If you wedding venue has a beautiful gazebo in their ceremony space, we highly recommend decorating the structure with stunning blooms to give it some freshness, and incorporate your colour palette into the space. We love designing on this gorgeous gazebo at Silvertip Resort in Canmore, to view more weddings at this resort please check out our venue portfolio.
Floral Columns
We love floral columns because they're a little less traditional, yet they frame the backdrop, and couple so beautifully! Just be sure to consider your partner's height when choosing a floral column so it frames you perfectly as a couple. Check out our feature wedding at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel for more floral column inspo!
Tree Florals
Tree florals are a unique way to decorate your altar. We are obsessed with how whimsical, and magical it feels. If you want your ceremony to feel like an enchanted garden, we highly suggest decorating the trees in your ceremony space! These stunning florals are from a micro garden wedding at Rouge Restaurant, find more photos here!
Mantel Flowers
In case you hadn't noticed yet, we LOVE mantel flowers. They are the perfect way to make any fireplace look elegant, sophisticated, and beautiful. There are endless ways to style your mantel, whether your design is bold and full or delicate and scaled back. Find more of our fireplace mantel flower designs here!
Pedestal Arrangements
Pedestal arrangements are a beautiful way to showcase florals in your ceremony, without distracting from a stunning view or beautifully ornate interior. Paired with clear acrylic stands, these arrangements add softness to any altar. For additional pedestal arrangement inspo, check out this feature wedding.
Aisle Florals
Who doesn't want flowers decorating their aisle? We love how all of these options below add so much character to your ceremony. Just be sure to consider the width of your aisle, as well as how many people will be walking down together when choosing to incorporate aisle florals!
Floral Hedges + Alternatives
There are many ways to incorporate flowers along your aisle such as a garden inspired aisleway with flower stems giving the illusion of "growing" out of the grass/moss. Bud vases, jugs filled with greenery, floral hedges, or floral bunches tied to aisle chairs also look lovely. The options are endless for your aisle décor!
Aisle Petals
Loosely scattered flower petals are a timeless way to decorate your aisle, give it some texture, and is a perfect way to incorporate any little ones into your ceremony. Just be sure to check with your venue to ensure they allow this type of decoration.
Start of Aisle - back of chairs
We definitely recommend having flowers at the start of your aisle; it can leave a big impression on your guests and if you want wide angle shots, this elevates your entire ceremony design. Floral hedges, or pedestal arrangements are a great way to elevate the design of your ceremony space! For additional aisle hedge inspo, check out this featured wedding.
Chair Florals
Chair florals are a beautifully simple way to decorate your aisle whether they're simple bunches of greenery or a mix of florals and greenery. They are also a great way to show designated reserved seats for your family.
Ceiling Florals
Ceiling florals are a stunning way to transform an interior. They bring freshness and help make the space feel more unique during your special day. We love trailing greenery from the ceiling, decorating a chandelier, or hanging geometric shapes filled with flowers in all ceremony spaces.
Window Sill Florals
Window sill florals aren't always something people consider when designing their ceremony space, but they can take your space from ordinary to extraordinary. Whether you just have greenery trailing from your window sills or a mix of greenery and flowers, you won't regret this small attention to detail!
Welcome Sign Flowers
Welcome sign flowers are a staple at most weddings and are a great way to make a first impression on your guests. Greenery or blooms on your signage is a wonderful and easy way to frame your names as a couple and can often be repurposed for your reception signage.
Keep in mind that your ceremony florals can often be repurposed somewhere at your cocktail hour and/or reception and will make a huge visual impact on your special day!
