Floral arches make an incredible ceremony backdrop for any wedding, especially for all those flower loving couples out there!
There are so many beautiful options for wedding archways such as curved arches, circles arches, hexagon forms, rectangular arches, triangular arches and arches made into the shape of mountains. There are even grounded floral arches where the flowers are arranged to look like hedges and placed along the ground in the form of a semi circle.
This blog post features three different yet stunning styles of lush floral archways created with curved structures.
Take a look and let us know which is your favorite design!
Floral Arch Style 1
Curved Arch Style 1 (pictured above)
The above photos are of an extremely lush and oversized curved flower archway that our team designed for a wedding in Banff, Alberta at the entrance of St. George's in the Pines Anglican Church. Once fully flowered the archway measured 7ft wide by 10ft tall. Prior to adding flowers, the measurements of the rental wrought iron arch were 5ft wide by 8ft tall. Our team also rented additional weights to add extra weight to the base. It took four of our designers four hours to create this stunning arch!
For an archway similar to this, expect to budget between $6,000-$8,000 plus delivery + set up fees. There is a wide range in pricing because if smaller flowers are used (rather than large hydrangea) the price will be higher as it will take more to fill out the archway to make it look full and voluptuous enough. If there is more greenery and less flowers the price can be on the lower end of the budget depending on the greenery varieties used. Some greenery/foliage can cost as much or more than flowers! This is also a very labour intensive design which will cause the the price to be higher.
Floral Arch Style 2
Curved Arch Style 2 (pictured above)
This second archway is also curved but is not as lush and dense as the previous floral arch. This floral arch measures approx. 5ft wide by 7 ft tall. Our team designed it to included floral hedges at the base which are completely optional. This wedding arch was designed at Park by Citizen Sidewalk, a local Calgary restaurant perfect for small, intimate wedding celebrations.
An archway similar to this would range between $2,500-$5,000 plus delivery + setup fees. There is a wide range in pricing as different seasons will have different flowers available. The hedges are also optional so will be on the higher side if included.
Floral Arch Style 3
Curved Arch Style 3 (pictured above)
The third curved arch style is a more modern design that is similar to free standing floral columns but with an arched look. The arch we designed for option 2 has a removable arched top piece that can be interchanged with separate curved pieces to create this look. The height of the tallest curve measures 7ft tall. This arch was designed at The Nash restaurant, another beautiful Calgary restaurant that is a stunning wedding venue with delicious cuisine!
This more modern arch design ranges in price from $1,000-2,000 plus delivery + set up. If you'd prefer to completely cover the arch so that it's fully covered in florals (no gold structure showing) the price would range from $2,000-$3,000 plus delivery + set up.
For couples who book Flowers by Janie as their wedding florist, the arch structure for styles 2 and 3 are in our rental inventory for you to use! Our gold arch has heavy metal base plates for stability of the structure. The first arch shown had a wrought iron metal base that was rented by us on behalf of our clients from Modern Rentals. Additional weights were rented to add weight to the arch.
Pro tip: If you are having an outdoor ceremony please make sure you are renting and using a very sturdy structure. Ask the rental company or your florist how secure and stable their arch will be. Copper pipe arches tend to be the lightest and are less advisable for outdoor use. They also can't hold as much weight on them as other arch structures. Outdoor weddings can have wind and the arch needs to be heavy enough that it won't blow over. The Outdoor Terrace at the Fairmont Banff Springs and the Lake View Terrace at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise are often extremely windy locations and need weighted ceremony designs.
