A Classic Love Affair is the term Calgary wedding planners Lindsay and Stephanie from Paper Doll Events coined for Katie + Brett's big day. These two souls were joined on September 9, 2017 in front of family and friends at The Lake House Calgary. Paper Doll Events, who were hired for full wedding day planning and design, told us the vision for Katie + Brett was the following:
"A classic love affair is about soft spoken, romantic and natural elements coming together for a big effect. Cohesive colors, tones, textures and pieces fit together to help support an overall aesthetic and compliment a central theme."
We think they nailed the aesthetic as Katie + Brett's wedding was all of the above and more! To keep with the natural, yet romantic elements, our team used almost all mixed greenery (except in the bouquets) for the wedding florals. The iconic fireplace mantel at The Lake House had a large bespoke floral piece with a waterfall cascade of foliage to one side, and included a variety of greenery such as bay leaves, olive branches, Italian ruscus, myrtle, leather leaf and three different types of eucalyptus (baby blue, silver dollar and seeded!)
The tables had greenery runners with candles spanning the entire length and the bride and groom had greenery garlands crafted for the backs of their chairs. The guest book table had a large old world style, grey ceramic urn with stems of fresh olive branches as a statement floral piece! The flow of greenery from the different foliage incorporated into the decor along with the candlelight definitely emitted a soft and romantic ambiance in the room.
Katie's and the bridesmaid's bouquets were the only florals that had actual flowers. They held bouquets of White O'Hara garden roses, majolika spray roses, white thryptomene and of course lush greenery!

Ps. We also think that Brett could stand in as a Ryan Gosling double in some of these images! Anyone agree!?
