Pantone® has released Greenery as the colour of the year for 2017 and we couldn't be happier! We love this yellow-green shade because Greenery resonates nature and everything that is natural. At Flowers by Janie our floral creations are centered around creating natural & unstructured bouquets and arrangements with design inspiration coming from old English gardens as well as the Canadian Rocky Mountains!
Greenery is a naturally occurring colour among fresh flowers and foliage and is easily incorporated into any wedding floral design. As a neutral colour it complements other colours beautifully and creates a reviving, fresh & renewing ambiance. Outdoor weddings typically have a plethora of Greenery surrounding them in the form of grass, trees and natural gardens. Try adding a floral arbour or hanging garland filled with greenery to enhance the outdoor space where you will be exchanging vows. This will help frame you as a couple in photos and these florals can be repurposed at the reception. If you are having an indoor wedding bringing nature inside with fresh flowers, foliage, garlands and hanging installations will create an atmosphere your guests won't soon forget.

Happy Wedding Planning!
An outdoor wedding ceremony at River Cafe in downtown Calgary, complete with a birch floral arbour incorporating lots of natural foliage and english ivy in the Pantone ® colour Greenery! The venue is set nicely among trees and shrubs in the heart of Price's Island Park and the arbour helps with drawing attention & romance to the ceremony space.

This industrial wedding at Charbar had loads of Greenery, from the foliage designed on the copper wedding arbour to the sprigs of BC boxwood left at each place setting. The ambiance exuded freshness and was warm and inviting.

Garden weddings are full of natural Greenery! This May wedding was held at Rouge Restaurant in the historic Calgary neighbourhood of Inglewood. The couple said their vows in the restaurant's garden and had their reception in a covered tent overlooking the garden. The lush outdoors were brought inside with four- 27 foot long garlands of mixed foliage, peonies and garden roses.

Bouquets are a great place to add the colour Greenery with fresh sprigs of foliage to break up clusters of flowers. Foliage breaks the monotony of flowers and individual blooms can be appreciated for their intrinsic beauty. Large oversized and unstructured bouquets with loads of Greenery were very popular in 2016 and will remain trendy for 2017!

Show stopping, elevated centrepieces are all the rage; especially those that include lots of wispy Greenery and other shades of foliage. This design was created for a mid-October wedding in the Victoria Ballroom at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

We predict that leafy potted plants will be popular mixed with fresh florals for weddings in 2017! This styled ceremony backdrop at Charbar was created to resemble a waterfall of fresh flowers, foliage and plants. It was the perfect industrial meets English garden inspiration.
