Today, as 2016 draws to a close we are reflecting on the many weddings our team was honoured to be a part of this year. We had weddings in Calgary, Cochrane, Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise, and drove as far as Fernie, BC to bring wedding flowers to our couples. We provided wedding flowers to almost 70 couples and are so thankful for each and every one of you who trusted Flowers by Janie with your wedding floral design!
Today has been a day of nostalgia as we look back through the images of our 2016 weddings. We love working with couples who appreciate flowers as much as we do and see value in hiring a professional floral designer for their special day. Going back though these photos we've stumbled across some gems and wanted to share a few of our favorite images of wedding ceremony florals with you from this past year.
Thank you to those of you who made our 2016 a success! For those of you planning weddings in 2017, we hope these images inspire you to plan weddings that are unique and custom-made for the two of you!
Happy New Year!
Abi & James held their wedding ceremony on the Tuscan terrace of Bonterra Trattoria located in downtown Calgary. Their wedding theme was funfetti flamingo so our team designed their floral arch using bright and bold coral, pink and peach rose varieties in differing sizes along with lush greenery to create a memorable ceremony space that reflected the vibrance of their wedding theme and of the Italian food served at their reception!

Carey and Luke said their "I Dos" beneath a massive wooden arbour the groom constructed on their private ranch near Cochrane, Alberta. The wedding was planned seamlessly by Kari of Emerson & Co Events and it was a perfect day for an outdoor country wedding in July. To stick with a country and wild flower theme, our team designed the floral arbour with local hydrangea from British Columbia, daisies, asters, lisianthus, roses, grasses and foliage.

Jessica and Cam were married in June in front of the pristine Island Lake located at Island Lake Lodge near Fernie, BC. We brought the flowers from Calgary and set up the ceremony flowers on site. The pink, coral and white peonies used in the ceremony arrangements, bouquets and centerpieces were all locally grown in British Columbia.

Alexandra and Adam were married in early April among family and friends in an intimate wedding ceremony at Charbar. They decided to forgo the traditional wedding party and following the ceremony had a sweetheart table set up under their floral arbour so that it could be used as a beautiful backdrop all day long.

At the end of August, Keri and Justin said their vows in the middle of Prince's Island Park at River Cafe with downtown Calgary in the background. Our team created a birch floral arbour for the ceremony featuring White O'Hara and Quicksand roses with lots of fresh ivy and mixed foliage.

K and J celebrated their wedding day the end of August with both ceremony and reception at Meadow Muse Pavilion; a tented wedding space located in Fish Creek Provincial Park next to the Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant. All of the ceremony flowers were repurposed as centerpieces at the reception. Our favorite part were the floral chandeliers with mixed foliage and white hydrangea, larkspur, delphinium and stock!

Samantha and Blaine celebrated their love, reciting their vows in front of the gazebo at Silvertip Resort this past October. Florals were very important to them and so the gazebo was covered in a floral garland and wine barrels had large arrangements placed on top of them. All of the flowers from the ceremony were repurposed inside for the reception.

Alex and Mitchell traveled from Edmonton, Alberta to be married at Silvertip Resort mid October. The weather was a little cold but they braved the elements and had a stunning wedding at the gazebo! Flowers were very important to Alex and so we used lots of vivid fall tones which contrasted nicely against the mountain backdrop.

Britney and Justin were married indoors in front of the grand fireplace at The Lake House on Lake Bonavista. We love dramatic fireplace mantel florals so had to include this wedding ceremony in our list of favorite ceremony florals.

Jasmine from Reflections Weddings Inc. planned the perfect tented wedding in the couple's backyard. Vintage chairs and couches from Orange Trunk were brought in to line the aisle and the couple recited their vows beneath an asymmetrical floral garland of white, pink, blue and purple flowers. Tables and trunks placed around the garden had lush summer florals arranged in different sizes and styles of vases from our own vase inventory.
